Named in tribute to the song ‘Soul Fixin’ Man’ by blues hall of famer Luther Allison, this group was assembled by guitar player Bob Herrmann to play music like the Chicago and Memphis bluesmen of a bygone era. Cincinnati Blues veterans Roger Bates (drums) and Tony Nasser (bass) give the group foundation and funk, bottom and bounce, drive and dynamics. The horn section, Greg Hines (sax), Roland Joseph (trumpet), and Byron Walton (trumpet) bring the riffs and the rhythm to complete this strong outfit. Today The SoulFixers will be playing original compositions by Bob Herrmann and their arrangement of the song that gives them their name.
