National Act – Tab Benoit “Soul of the Swamp” Tour with Ghalia Volt

October 9 @ 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM

Tab Benoit is a four-time Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and guitarist who, for more than thirty years, has built a remarkable career on the foundation of his gritty and soulful Delta swamp blues. He has acquired a devoted legion of fans along the way, as well as five Blues Music Awards, including BB King Entertainer of the Year (twice) and an induction into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

After a 13-year hiatus, Tab is back with his latest effort, I Hear Thunder, on his own label, Whiskey Bayou Records. The new album was his first #1 in the Billboard charts in over 30 years.

Tab Benoit and Ghalia Volt perform a blend of Roots, Delta Swamp Blues, and Blues Rock. Often touring together on the “Soul of the Swamp Tour,” they combine Benoit’s Louisiana bayou blues with Volt’s modern, gritty, Hill Country-influenced blues-rock, creating an high-energy, authentic blues sound.

Benoit has recorded and/or performed with Junior Wells, George Porter Jr, Dr. John, Willie Nelson, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Billy Joe Shaver, Maria Muldaur, James Cotton, Cyril Neville, Kenny Aronoff, Allen Toussaint, Kim Wilson, Jimmy Thackery, Charlie Musslewhite, Kenny Neal, Chris Layton, Ivan Neville, Jimmy Hall, Jim Lauderdale, Anders Osborne, and Alvin Youngblood Hart to name a few.

No barriers. No boundaries. That’s always been Ghalia Volt’s approach to American roots music.

It’s a sound that reaches far beyond America itself. Ghalia grew up listening to the flamenco songs and traditional Spanish music that her grandparents loved. Her tastes expanded from there, making room for the fierce, guitar-driven sounds of punk, garage rock, and psychobilly. Digging into the roots of rock & roll, she discovered blues artists like Skip James and J.B Lenoir, setting the stage for an acclaimed songwriting career that would soon take her around the world — and up the Billboard Blues Chart.

Key Genre Elements:
  • Tab Benoit: Known for “bayou blues,” he blends Delta blues, swamp blues, soul, and funk.
  • Ghalia Volt: Blends traditional Hill Country blues with gritty rock and roll, sometimes performing as a one-woman band with foot drums or with a full band.
Their collaborative shows are characterized by raw, Louisiana-rooted musical energy.
