National Act – JD Simo and GA-20
October 21 @ 10:00 PM - 1:00 AMFree
Delivering powerful blues rock with a psychedelic sheen and a strong thread of improvisational imagination, Simo is a power trio from Nashville, Tennessee led by guitarist J.D. Simo. J.D. grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and developed a taste for the blues as a kid, listening to a Chess Records collection his sister often played. In 2006. J.D. made a name for himself in Music City after he joined a popular local group, the Don Kelley Band. In 2010, J.D. decided to break out on his own, and he formed a new band with two seasoned musicians, bassist Frank Swart and drummer Adam Abrashoff. The new combo was dubbed Simo, and their self-titled debut album arrived in 2011. The group has played festivals like Bonnaroo and Mountain Jam as well as sharing bills with Gregg Allman, Joe Bonamassa, Blackberry Smoke, Deep Purple, and many others. In 2015, Simo scored a deal with Provogue Records, and they released their first album for the label, Let Love Show the Way, in 2016.
GA-20 was formed by friends Pat Faherty and Matthew Stubbs in Boston, MA in 2018. The project was born out of their mutual love of heavy traditional Blues, R&B, and Rock & Roll of the late 50s and early 60s. Faherty and Stubbs bonded over legendary artists like Lazy Lester, J.B. Lenoir, Earl Hooker, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush and Junior Wells. Feeling a void in current music, the duo have set out to write, record and perform a modern version of this beloved art form. Joined by drummer Tim Carman in 2019, GA-20 is a trio of 2 guitars, vocals and drums. Raw, passionate and honest performance, both on stage and in the studio, is the only goal.
