This studio project ranked #1 on Reverbnation.com, which highlights local bands worldwide.
After a citywide search, Lady Joya was chosen to be lead vocalist for the blues band The Juice, formerly known as “II Juicy”. She is featured as lead vocalist on The Juice CD entitled Once in a Blue Moon. The Juice has won the Cincinnati Blues Challenge and represented the Cincinnati Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge held in Memphis, TN. Tom Cecil – Sax
Tom’s musical experiences have come full circle. Starting on the sax at age fourteen, he played in bands of all types until switching to organ with Delta Blue, a five-piece blues band. Eventually he returned to the sax and as a member The Horns in Black, worked the horn section for several groups around town, including the Sonny Moorman Group. He then spent many years in BlueStone Ivory, which netted him two Cammy Awards. Besides his work with LJRB, he remains active in Santa’s Goody Bag Band, which formed as an offshoot from the old Kings Island Clown Band with the mission to raise money for Shriners Hospital in Cincinnati.
Chris Dendy – Keyboards
Born in North Carolina and raised in Georgia, Chris has been playing keys in bands for the past 30 years. He’s covered rock, jazz, blues, soul and country with bands in Georgia, Chicago, Indiana and Cincinnati. Chris can bring it all from the roaring bluesy Hammond organ to tasty gospel-tinged piano.
Jeffrey Chamberlin – Drums
Jeff knew that he wanted to be a drummer ever since he saw a band perform live at the age of eleven. He got his first set of drums at age fourteen and played in local bands for many years. His style has constantly evolved and today he embraces the less-is-more philosophy, which serves him well as the groove maker for the band and keeper of the pocket.
Bob Borgmann – Guitar
A long-time Cincinnati guitarist, Bob brings a variety of influences from blues, rock, classical and jazz to a style that serves the song first. Besides various rock and blues bands over the years, Bob played with The Cincinnati Guitar Trio (a classical guitar group) for 20 years and currently makes up half of the popular guitar duo The Verbs.
Gary Sabourin- Bass
Gary has been playing bass since he formed a grade school rock band in 1963. Growing up in northern Ohio during the “garage band” era, there were two bands on his neighborhood street alone that earned national notice: The Music Explosion (“Little Bit O Soul”) and The Ohio Express (“Chewy, Chewy” “Yummy, Yummy”). Gary’s band was more in the vein of Cream, Jimi Hendrix, and The Doors. A long-time fixture of the Cincinnati blues scene, he has enjoyed the rich musical tradition that flourishes in the Queen City
