A new concert series, Sounds At Sunset, created in honor of Middletonian Tim Lewis, who passed away unexpectedly last year, will kick off this week. Lewis was the co-founder of the Broad Street Bash. He shared his vision of a new concert series at Sunset Park before he passed, and friends and relatives made it happen.
The first concert of the series will be Thursday, June 16, at Sunset Park, 2698 Milton Road in Middletown, OH.
Hometown favorites, the Gillespie Express, open the show. They will be playing some killer blues tunes & originals from 6:00 to 7:30pm.
The headliner is the Noah Wotherspoon Band, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, from 8:00 pm to 9:30pm.
Wotherspoon has been immersed in the blues and mesmerizing audiences with his soulful guitar playing since he was a teenager. In 2015, Wotherspoon received the Best Guitarist Award at the International Blues Challenge and the band placed 2nd in the Finals. Since the competition, they have been playing festivals and venues around the world.
The Cincy Blues Society is a sponsor for this show. We’ll have a table there, so be sure to stop by and ask about the upcoming Cincy Blues Fest.
Food and drinks will be available. Don’t forget a blanket or a chair!
Event parking will be in the Roosevelt Elementary Green Space, 2701 Central Ave. Motorcycle parking is located in the park off of Kenwood Drive.
