Looking for a weekend getaway full of blues? The River City Blues Festival, a few hours upriver from Cincinnati, may just the ticket. Produced by the Marietta Blues, Jazz, and Folk Music Society, the 29th River City Blues Fest will take place Friday-Saturday, March 18-19 at the historic Lafayette Hotel Ballroom in Marietta, OH.
The stellar lineup includes three 2022 Blues Music Awards nominees Mr. Sipp, Vanessa Collier, and Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials, as well as Studebaker John and the Hawks, Terry and the Zydeco Bad Boys, Peaches Staten, and more.
At this time, though the Lafayette Hotel is booked and there’s a waiting list, two other motels have discounted rates for festival goers. The Microtel Inn and Suites (call direct 740-373-7373) are offering a block of double rooms for just $60 plus tax, but reservations have to be made by Feb. 28. It’s a great place, clean, free breakfast and wifi, and it’s where the Marietta BJFM Society houses most of their artists. The Comfort Suites (call direct 740-376-1600) are offering rooms for $96 plus tax with free breakfast and wifi. For both, when calling ask for the “River City Blues Festival” discount. Of course, there are plenty of other places to stay, but these two are kind enough to offer discounts.
