This past week has been an exciting week for all blues lovers, from those who play, to those who love to listen, as many went to Memphis for the 2020 International Blues Challenge (IBC). Each blues society, both nationally and internationally, sent bands to represent them from their local Challenge competitions.
This year, Cincy Blues Society’s representatives from our Cincy Blues Challenge held June 2, 2019 were Lil’ Red & the Rooster (Band) and Troubled Waters (Solo/Duo). Also, going to Memphis representing the Dayton Blues Society is Ralph and the Rhythm Hounds (Band) and Jimmy D. Rogers (Solo/Duo).
Both Lil Red & the Rooster and Jimmy D. Rogers made it to the semi-finals. We are proud and excited to have our Challenge winners and Dayton’s winners at this year’s IBC. They did an excellent job representing the area.
The Blues in the Schools (BITS) Band also went to Memphis to play in the Youth Showcase at Blues City Cafe.
Who will be representing us at the next International Blues Challenge in 2021? Come to the 2020 Cincy Blues Challenge on June 7, 2020 at Germania Park. Please check our Facebook page and website for updates on the Challenge and for band information on competing at the Challenge.
