The best live music venue in our area will be closing at the end of the year. A more complete story is here: http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20111128/ENT03/111128015/Southgate-House-closing
Unfortunately the article doesn’t say why it’s closing, nor is there information about what will happen to the building. The owner is hoping to relocate the business.
The Cincy Blues Society’s Winter Blues Fest has been held at the Southgate House for several years and was planned for being there again, so stay tuned for changes to that event and location.
UPDATE: WLWT Channel 5 news reports that the venue will reopen in another location in Newport in the first quarter of 2012 using the same employees.
UPDATE: Metromix and other sources report that the building was lost in a legal battle with the owner Ross Raleigh’s sister, Armina Lee. https://chicago.metromix.com/
Lee, who also owns the Brass Ass adult club in Newport, plans to renovate the building, then sell it or lease it as a music venue.
