Eden Park – Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, OH
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Sunday Jan. 4th, 2015, 2:30pm
Followed by a gathering at the Brew House, corner of MacMillan and Park, Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, OH.
Ray was a longtime volunteer of both the Cincy Blues Society and Cincy Blues Fest. Ray, along with his wife, Mary Munchel, were coordinators of the Cincy Blues Fest Hospitality Tent for many years. Ray passed December 24th after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ray and Mary Munchel are long time dedicated volunteers to the Blues Society/Fest. Mary ran the Hospitality tent at Cincy Blues Fest for many years. Unfortunately, Ray is in the final stages of pancreatic cancer.
There is going to be a benefit for Ray at the Brewhouse this Sunday at 3pm. There will be potluck (as the Brewhouse is not serving food that day), so bring a dish to share!
There will also be live music in the form of a jam. Brewhouse jams are acoustic type, sitting around the table in a circle affairs – a lot of fun! Bring your instrument and optionally a small practice amp.
There will also be Split the Pot to raise money for medical expenses, so bring some cash!
The Brewhouse is located at the corner of MacMillan and Park in Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, OH, the same place where Blues Society meetings are usually held.
A memorial jam for Smokin’ Joe Kowis will be held this Sunday, October 19 at the Southgate House Revival, Newport, KY in the lounge. The show will start at 6pm and run until midnight.
For those wishing to jam, there will be complete backline there – PA, two guitar amps, bass amp, drums, keyboard and also a Hammond organ with Leslie speaker. So all you need to do is bring your instrument.
Come on out to pay tribute to Joe and his music, and to show your support for Joe and his family. Donations will be accepted to help with final expenses.
As this will be a loose jam kind of thing, there is no schedule of acts, but at press time, musicians Lance Boyd, Walt Grau, Jerry Hedge and Sonny Hill are expected to attend.
You can RSVP via Facebook at this page and also see who else is attending.
Many thanks to Morella Raleigh from the Southgate House Revival for opening up on a Sunday especially for this event.
