Remembering Sean Costello, 1979 - 2008
Submitted by mak on Tue, 04/29/2008 - 2:19am.
We are very sad to report that Atlanta blues guitarist, Sean Costello was found dead in his Atlanta hotel room April 15th, a day before his 29th birthday. Cause of death has not been determined, but there were no signs of foul play. A toxicology report is pending. Sean was scheduled to be the Friday night headliner at this year’s Cincy Blues Fest. You can read a detailed article from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution here. (They may require you to register before you can read the article.) In lieu of flowers, donations to the singer's non-profit, The Sean Costello Foundation for Bi-Polar Research, are requested. To donate, call 678-384-0063 or e-mail tray@bbandt.com. We encourage you to post your remembrances of Sean by clicking on the Comments link below this article. You must be logged in as a registered user to do so. BioSean was already playing in clubs at age 14 when he won the Memphis Blues Society’s talent competition. This jump started his career, enabling him to record his first album "Call the Cops" at age 17. A year later, he appeared on Susan Tedeschi’s album "Just Won’t Burn" and also toured with Susan in support of that album. Over the last dozen years, Sean Costello had become one of the most exciting singer-songwriters and guitarists on the blues scene, putting a deeply personal imprint on classic soul, blues, and roots rock sounds.
