Cincy Blues Challenge Winners Announced

Congratulations to the winners of the 11th annual Cincy Blues Challenge!  Cheryl Renee and Them Bones came out on top in the Band division and Ricky Nye was number one in the Solo/Duo category.  Both have won our competition before and we wish them the best of luck in Memphis. 

Other top finishers - Johnny Fink & the Intrusion took 2nd and IIJuicy placed third in the Bands.  Rooster Forbes was second in the Solo/Duo's.

We don't announce the standings other than these, but the artists will be notified of their scores, placements and any judges comments in the next couple of weeks.

It was a great day of blues.  The judges noted that this was by far, the best group of talent they had seen at a Challenge and I don't see how anyone would argue with that.  The winners will all be presented with their plaques at the 17th annual Cincy Blues Fest, August 7th & 8th at Sawyer Point.

You get a chance to spend a great afternoon outside watching and listening to the best local talent any city has to offer. Bring a chair and a friend, but no coolers or pets please. Food and drinks are on sale at the park. Come by and see Who’s Blues Will Reign Supreme! It’s great blues, rain or shine.

Each act plays a 15 minute set while judges look at: Blues Content, Instrumental Talent, Vocal Talent, Originality, and Stage Presence. Winners in each category go to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge January 20-23, 2010.
