Originally formed in 2002 by old friends Dick Buchholz, John Hack,
and C Alan Smith, Dick and The Roadmasters have been through a number
of changes over the years. Smith is dealing with medical issues, and Hack has
a busy schedule in Dayton, so…The most recent version includes new faces
Willie Brown on drums and Tim Hegge on bass.
Two additional guitar players, Michael Donathan and Kurtis Heinrich,
supplement Dick’s strong lead stylings and equally strong baritone voice.
Says Dick “I wanted to experiment with the textures I could get with three
guitars and some of the harmony things we had been fooling with all along
even back to their 2003 recording “Coming Home To The Blues”. Returning
from their 2009 winning lineup from Louisville is Susan Baird on keyboard
and vocal. Saxophonist and fellow Van-Dell alumni Brian Flanery was also a
part of the 2009 version, but unfortunately passed on in 2014. Filling the reed
position currently is Dan Jackson seen in the two most recent videos.
Hard driving, but never losing sight of their blues roots, Dick and The
Roadmasters put their own stamp on everything they do bringing energy and
originality to every performance.
