Sell Out is a new gathering of seasoned musicians bringing a variety of experience into the group. Hailing from Northern Kentucky, Sell Out has quickly developed their own unique sound rooted in the blues, but isn’t afraid to stretch their show into 70s rock, Southern rock, R&B, soul, country, pop, and even ska. Sell Out’s show covers that whole musical gamut, keeps their audience smiling and guessing, and sends them home happy (if perhaps a bit tired from dancing).
Today, however, Sell Out will be squarely focused on the blues, their musical “home base.”
Front man Jeremiah Holland leads with his powerful, soulful vocals, seamlessly shifting from his smooth baritone groove into the angst-ridden scowls that declare the blues have indeed arrived.
Sell Out’s musical core is a trio of talented players who have quickly gelled into a solid source of musical force. Jim “Jimijam” Phillips and his lead guitar answer Jeremiah’s vocals with an equally strong supply of bluesy riffs and solos. Jimijam and his infectious energy lead the crowd into their happy place. Together with the band’s drivetrain of Paul Hoffman on bass guitar and Erick Greber on drums, they form a power trio around which the Sell Out sound finds its center, its musical heart pumping out the blues.
A pair of award-winning musicians in the horn section give Sell Out a distinctive edge. Dan “The Sax Man” Stewart fills Sell Out songs with riveting solos, and trombone man Barry Holland lends brassy support to the mix. When this horn section gets rocking together, the fun is on!
Sell Out is pleased to step into the Cincinnati blues scene, and to be competing in the 2017 Blues Challenge with so many other excellent musicians. Best wishes to all of our competing brothers and sisters!
